I have a page (using a master page) that currently has a button to download a file. The download is being performed via TransmitFile. Everything works great except that the page freezes until the download completes. I've found mention online that this is because I am using the session to store variables. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? I am fine with having a dedicated download page that does nothing but provide a response object but I can't think of how to trigger it without showing the user a popup or reloading the current page (it uses collapsible panels so I don't want to lose the users 'place'). Let me know if I can provide any more detail that will help.
Update: the files are on a share that the page impersonates access to so there isn't a direct url to the file available
