I have been searching for a few weeks for a solution to the following requirement and have been unsuccessful. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a group of users who have X.509 certificates issued by a third party CA. I can successfully import a certificate into our AD and authenticate the user on Web Services and Web forms with their certificate. Almost all of our users are located several hundred miles away and cannot come into the office with their smart card and let us grab their X.509 cert and import it to their account with the AD tools. Is there a way to use an ASP.NET for to do this. The user would have to log into the web app (form) with their username/password and then associate their certificate with their currently logged in account. Of course the connection is encrypted over SSL. We cannot do any type of federation with the issuing CA domain, and the users must have accounts in our domain with various roles and privel ...
