static - global - session

Dear Developers,

I need a var that sticks with my during a visit on my website.

I know I can use session vars but I want to know if I can use something else like global static vars.

1)Is it possible to use static vars instead of session vars?

2)What is the difference between static and global vars?

Kindest Regards
