Just to give a little background. We have a application that uses an MSSQLSERVER backend, One machine is the server and holds the application's database, the other machine is the client and connects to the server.
The issue I am running into is that everytime a "new" user signs onto the machine (we are an active directory environment) and we launch the application, the connection to the database fails and we are presented with the server connection dialog.
Each new user currently has to change the servername from local to the hostname of the "server" computer and then everything works, and it will remember that connection information for the next time that users logs on.
What I am looking for is a way to set that server name globally so that my users who log onto the client don't have to change the server name from local to the server hostname.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any advice.
