We need t provide modify access to a registry key (specific to our product) during it's install script. Our product is a .Net class library that can be used within web apps, services and so on.
The questions, what OS account should we use? We did some tests and found out that IIS_USRS needed access but then others suggest NETWORK_SERVICE.
Then there is the issue of IIS and application pool IDs which look like a proper user account ID but are not "real" OS accounts (It seems that with these the actual account is IIS_USRS but this I am not 100% sure).
So we want to define the list that will suffice for any possible system running on Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2 either IIS 6 or IIS7.
Is there such a list?
Thanks
