Membership - How to check if a user is online from the database?

Hi, I have a dataview with a list of users of the system which i query from the database. In my dataview i also want to display if the user is online or not. How do i do this? Is it stored in the database? Ideally i just want to modify my sql to return the user online status. thanks in advance ...
