Hi,
When I create an ASP.NET website in VS.NET 2005 web.config has <authentication mode="Windows" /> by defualt. Once I set up a Virtual Directory in IIS 5.1 (I'm using XP PRO SP3), I can access pages through any browser and everything works fine.
However do the same in VS.NET 2008 (targeted at any version, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5) and I get access denied and the web page wants me to login. If I then change the authentication to Forms I can acces my default.aspx page no problem. But as soon as I click a link to another web page I get asked to login. Changing it to None does the same.

In both cases I have allowed ASPNET user full control of both the website folders the Virtual Directories point to.
Have a missed something fundamental? Does VS.NET 2008 work differently with IIS? I am running VS.NET 2008 SP1 and .NET 3.5 SP1.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks
Si
