I am newbie to asp.net and am considering carrying out a project in asp or vb.
For my project, I am going to require access and manipulation of databases, I am yet to use SQL, however I am familiar with Access and the oledb object in VB. Anyway I was wondering, If I was to use ASP and SQL, how does the database manipluation work?
1. Are there Datasets / adaptors/ fills like there are for access databass in VB? I.e is it possible to access elements of databases?
2. Can asp connect to MYSQL easily?
3. Does asp.net, have all the same .net objects as VB? (smtp object in particular)
4. Can asp.net connect to an access database stored on a server, like vb.net can to one locally?
5. What is microsoft sql server?
6. Can VB connect to an access / sql database stored on your average host?
7. Are there any major differences in the vbscript used in asp.net to regular vb?
