After sending a mail message via SMTP in the code behind is there a way to determine whether or not the message was sent?
If I have a registration page and I am not using recaptcha to stop spam on the page, then I am going to try to somehow verify the email address before any contact is made with the database - before a connection is opened and a record is written to my user table.
Is this possible using MailDefinition or MailMessage in ASP.net? Can we attempt to send to email address example@example.com and if the email does not exist return an error code and display to the user "the email you entered does not exist"?
