Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

I cant seem to get my security right for my site. I am using ad\jason to logon to my site but I still get "Access is denied"

Here is what I have in web.config:

<authorization> <allow users="ad\jason"/> <deny users="*"></deny> <deny users="?"></deny> </authorization>
