Need to loop through all rows in GridView by value and count the results

Hi all!
Basically what I would like to do is count all the values from a column in a gridView and show the total count for each on label controls.  For example:
Column(Demographic)
PEDS
ADULT
PEDS
ADULT
PEDS
------------------
return:
PEDS = 3
ADULT = 2
I am using a SQL View so i cannot modify the Original SQL to do this. I need to do this using the gridview control.
