Adding Custom Attributes to server controls

Hi,

I want to hard-code some custom attributes to asp.net control like

<asp:TextBox id="txtName" runat="server" val="*"> </asp:TextBox>

Here val is the custom attribute which I added manually.

Later I'll retrieve all the controls whose 'val' is set '*'.

My concern is will there be any problem while hardcoding such attributes on server controls.
