My site allows members to rate products. The problem I'm having is how to determine the most popular?
I could simply take the average ratings or base it on the times its been viewed, but these seem a little inaccurate, for instance: Product | NoOfRatings | AvgRating | TimesViewed
======== ============= =========== ============
A 5 9.8 10
B 230 9.7 583
C 1 10.0 1
Product C clearly can't be the most popular item as its only been rated and viewed once?
Product B surely must be more popular than A as its been viewed more times and been rated much more times, but obviously some ratings make have bought the score down a bit?
Any suggestions on how I could take all the NoOfRatings, AvgRatings and TimesViewed to determine a fair judgement on whats the most popular item? Has anyone implemented anythin ...
