Launching a network file from an Intranet

Hi there, We would like t be able to launch a network file directly from an intranetweb page. Does anyone know how to do this in Visual Web Developer Express? Our company has an intranet that has been built using MS Visual Web Developer Express 2005 which plugs in to various data sources, the main one being our primary MS SQL Database. The SQL database stores information about documents on our network server (Novell) and we would like to be able to launch a file on our network by clicking on a link on the intranet, given the relevant path from the database. So, for example, intranet page shows a user relevant documents to their search, including the location path on the network (e.g. W:\My Folder\My File). The problem is, I'm struggling to be able to launch the document from this location from a link on the intranet. Using a hyperlink field bound with "file:///%document path%" renders the Hyperlink useless (it seems to only like http://). At the moment, ...
