DropDownList1 empty

Hi all,
I have a class "transform" which has a function like this:
 Public Function addvalue(ByVal i As Integer) As DropDownList
       Dim cmbR As New DropDownList
       
       cmbR.ID = i
       cmbR.Items.Add("1")
       cmbR.Items.Add("2")

       Return cmbR
 End Function


my web page contains a DropDownList1 ...
in load page I put:

dim vv as new transform
dropdownlist1 = vv.addvalue(0)


but is empty... why?

how do I fill?
