DataContext issues in Beta 2

Is this not allowed in Beta 2?
 public MyClassConstructor ()
{
    InitializeComponent();
              
    LayoutRoot.DataContext = this; //this line
}
 
It is giving me a stack overflow exception, and it boggles my mind how such a line could give a stack overflow exception.  This code should be completely valid and legal.  It just started happening when I installed Beta 2.
