nested content place holder in divs ???

hi guys,
I am trying to divide the center of my master page, such that I can add a site wide content in some pages, to the left side of my master page
Such that the content place holder is 60% of the page and aligned to the right of the page and the other 40% is a div content.
How can i achieve this ?
many thanks
Ehi
