My problem is not that the database is 2012 or 2008, but THAT IT IS TRYING TO ACCESS THE WRONG DATABASE
The database in question is NOT on my site anymore, is NOT referenced to in my web.config and yet it is trying to use it instead of the database I created with the site. IT SHOULD NOT BE TRYING TO ACCESS THIS DATABASE - So WHY IS IT?

My first clue is that I cannot use the configuration tool I first used to add membership, and roles to my site.
