try catch for soap web service

hi
I am using soap web service for xml file data transfer.I am adding each response including error message on a log table in sql db.I am using 3 stored procs for getting xml file data from db.I would like to stop the file transfer if any exception occurs along with the error log on table in same catch block.Please advise me how can i proceed with this..
