I have a circumstance where the user must select a bunch of preliminary data on a treeview and multiple dropdown listboxes before any major data entry can begin. Using a Session variable, I've implemented a mechanism to retore this preliminary data should the user accidentally refresh the page. This works fine.
But unfortunately the same mechanism is run when the user intentionally leaves the page and then later returns in the same session. I'd like to prevent this.
What are the best practices to differentiate between a Page Refresh vs. Leave a Page and Returning to it?
