Saving to database with textbox money value

I am trying to insert this value into an sql database. I need to remove the '$' and insert/update the value as a decimal. It is giving me an error when I run. Can anyone see what is wrong?
Price = $25.50
string price = "'; price= textboxPrice.Text.ToString().Replace("$", "");
