I have multiple computers that the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit has identified as running SQL, but the edition is listed as 'Unknown'.  Since these computers are running Windows 7, this would have to be SQL Express, right?
Either way, that's not good enough for my auditor.  I thought I would snoop around on these remote computers, but when you look at Add/Remove programs (I'm doing this via SCCM), nothing SQL-related that appears in the list includes "Express", so I don't know any more than I did.
I tried to connect to the SQL instance on two of the computers remotely, but that failed.  I presume that they are not configured to accept remote connections.  That's fine and I don't want to tamper with it.
Is there someway I can verify that these systems are running the Express version of SQL?
