I have a very weird thing going on with a web page. If I include a regular expressionvalidator, the page will work ok, but if not it is dead

I have the following code in a page. If I don't include a regular expressionvalidator, all of the controls are dead on the page. If I do, then it works. I know it is tied to my "saveDivState()" function but I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas? saveDivState is called from the MasterPage when exiting the form.
