I though it was a simple task until I crashed my head into the wall.
My environment:
virtual server W2008 r2 with Sql 2008 r2 Enterprise running for about 2 years. All domain accounts access to the instance, no problem.
One week ago I have decided to install Sql Express 2008 r2 - side by side- and since then it's been impossible to bring this instance available on the network. Of course sql browser is runnig, sql express is running, the tcp protocol is enabled and the configuration
for exp. instance shows as:
Listen to All=Yes
IP1=192.168.1.4, port 1534 which is open in the firewall as well as the sqlservr.exe for both instances are listed in the firewall and same for the browser service.
The enterprise instance has assigned port 1433 for the same IP address as matter of fact when I open Managment Studio from any machine in the domain and I connect to the Enterprise instance when I run:
SELECT net_transport, local_net ...
