How to detect wether the requesting wesite is using SSL and read the issuer, expiry date of the certficate?

hi,

scenario:

I have a textbox in my webpage i want to give the URL in that textbox and want to detect wether the given URL is using SSL certificate.

And also i want to read the information of the given URL's Certificate like issuer, Expiry date etc.
