Problem firing correct label

On this page are two text boxes. One is to input your email to retrieve login credentials and the other is to input your login name. If all I do is click the button to retrieve by login id without entering any text, the label next to retrieve by email is fired and reads Reqired in red. I do this in the code behind. There is a label next to both textboxes, and the appropriate label should fire when I click a button. I tried renaming my labels but this had no effect. There has to be some other reason why the error label next to the textbox to retrieve by email is fired when I'm clicking the button to retrieve by username.  Ok, I resolved this myself! Button2 was on button1.click. It's now on button2.click and working..
