My computer has SQL 2005. I'm using W7 Ultimate and Office 2010. I've applied all necessary Windows 7 updates since 2009. I run a clean, super-fast computer and like to maintain my software with the proper updates.
(1) Do I need SQL 2008 (or 2012)?
(2) Can I simply uninstall SQL 2005 using REVO uninstaller and then install SQL 2008?
(3) or can I simply install SQL 2008 and it will work with SQL 2005 and/or overwrite it?
Everything works on my computer, so I don't want to cause problems. When I read about changing to SQL 2008, it looks like a nightmare. If it takes more than uninstalling 2005 and then installing 2008, then I'll keep what I have.
