Quick intro - I am having a web site devloped by a developer (I am not a developer myself), and one of the requirements is to resize images using .NET. I understand that combination of techniques from the link below are being used to enable this at present:

However, this does appear to result in a loss in quality. It's subtle but noticeable to the eye, and even where the script fires in an instance were no resizing actually takes place there's a sizeable drop in file size. Here's an example:

Size: 200 x 200
File size: 24kb
