Can anyone explain the following behavior from the System.Net.Mail.SMTPClient class?
I am using ASP.NET 2.0.
I am using web.config to configure the SMTPClient to send mail as follows (note the defaultCredentials="false"):
<system.net>
<mailSettings>
<smtp from="myname@mydomain.com">
<network host="mailserver" port="25" defaultCredentials="false" userName="MyUser" password="MyPassword"/>
</smtp>
</mailSettings>
</system.net>
... and I am using very simple code to send the mail like so:
