Injecting appsetting on web.config from code (.Net Framework 2.0)

I'm trying to inject appsetting section of web.config with a new key and value provided on the application code using a method or function.
web.config:
...
<appSettings>
<add key=$KeyParam value=$ValueParam />
</appSettings>
..
