I am doing maintenance on an asp.net web site running on a 2008 server. The designer has an architecture, set up many years ago, where in many cases urls on the site dont point to pages within folders, but just the folder, which has a default.aspx . The
page to perform the log is is /login/default.aspx, and consists for an .ascx that takes the data in text boxes, has a asp.net image button control that when fired writes to session, redirects, etc.
If use the address <site>/login/default.aspx, the page comes up prompting for credentials, and when the button is clicked both the ascx's Page_Load and then the btn_click even fire. Exactly as one would expect.
If use the address <site>/login/ , the page comes up prompting for credentials, and when the button is clicked only the ascx's Page_Load fires.
So, the /login/default.aspx page always comes up, and when the image button is clicked, Page_Load always fires. ...
