Is there any way to stick a File Upload control into a validation group?

I can validate the file upload control using ASP.NET's validation controls, but ValidationGroup does not appear to be a valid property for the File Upload control.  Is there any way I can get around this limitation without moving the entire intended validation group to its own separate page?
