Handling multiple formview's update commands in one page

I'm having trouble managing multiple formview's update methods on a single page. 
I have 2 formviews one for customer basic info on a jquery tab one for customer address on a jquery tab Both formviews are usercontrols Both query the same table (SQL) Both are by default in EDIT mode I use query to show a modal popup confirmation when the "update" button is clicked Both formviews are in an update panel, with the updatemode set to conditional The problem:
Records will not update. When i use the usercontrols separately on different pages, they work. What is the solution to this?
