publish asp.net site

I developed a sample website on my laptop under:

C:\Documents and Settings\snasir\My Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\Samplesite

and now I am trying to publish it to my web hosting account under wwwroot folder so I can publish it to the web. Not sure if I am suppose to copy the Samplesite folder under wwwroot or am I suppose to copy individual files under wwwroot folder?

or am I suppose to publish the site first on my machine and copy that folder over under wwwroot?
