Update web application during specific dates

Hi,
I have a web application that I need to be updated with mail sendouts and DB updates two times a month at a specific time.  The logic to do the updates is not that hard to figure out, but I don´t know how to start my application at that specific date, so the updates really are done. How is this done? Because I can´t be the single one with that problem :)
