Response.redirect

I have been trying to open a new page using response.redirect from a selction made in a dropdownlist. Using
          Response.Redirect("downloads/newsletter/" + lstNewsletter.SelectedValue);

works fine but obviously in the existing window. Searching the forum I see that


string redirect = "<script>window.open('http://www.google.com');</script>";
Response.Write(redirect);



should open google in a new window but I get a parsing error. Am I missing something or is there another way around this? I use c# and VS2008.
