Dynamically adding user control and SelectedIndexChanged event problem

Hi, I am trying to solve this problem for 2 days with no success. Maybe one of you can help me.
I have a gridview that display list of emails at the top of the page and another user control that takes the selected email ID and display links of file attachments at the bottom of the page.
The problem is the user has to click the download file link one time to cause a postback, then click the same link again to download the file attachment. Any help would be appreciated.
