Passing a varible to A Javascript Function call... (vb.net)

Good Morning all,

Using: VS2008

I have been working with web services/master pages and incremental page updates (from the HDI video). I now wish to extend the code I have by passing a variable to a function. Every way I have tried doesn't seem to work.

The service method is defined as below:

Function GetSomeStuff(ByVal str as String) As String

And the js code is here:

ret = SiteService.GetSomeStuff("", OnCompleteContent, OnTimeOut, OnError);

Basically, myvariable is the path of the page, so basically in my case "AthDevProject/Default.aspx". I have limited knowledge of javascript but I have seen document.location.href been passed as a variable... Which doesn't seem to work for me :/ If I take away the custom parameter from the js and webservice then the code executes fine else it doesn't work :/
