I'm a fairly experienced ASP developer ready (finally) to make the leap to ASP.net.
I've loaded Visual Web Developer Express / SQL Express and been working with tutorials. However, I'm running into obstacles and need some help making sure I'm on the right path and have the right tools... while trying to minimize ($0 if possible) my investment. Developing locally for my computer is fine... I run into problems when it comes to developing for deployment on a 3rd party host.
(1) I can't figure out how to administer remote databases. I can attach a remote db, either SQL Server 2000 or 2005, to VWD Express, but all I can figure out how to do in the Database Explorer is add/edit/delete records, not create/edit table structure, create stored procedures, etc. I can perform those functions on Server 2000 databases in Enterprise Manager, but I'd like to use Server 2005 databases.
