A need an advice to create a global dependency property visible to all classes contained in Page

Hi,
I need to create a state dependency property which will tell all the components and modules of my app.
Before beta 2 i was declaring some dependency properties on main. To make them visible to all of the objects i was passing the Page instance to all the objects DataContext property. That doens't work anymore. (i also would love to know why).
How can i create a dependency property and make it visible to all objects without this?
