I have inherited some code that apparently doesn't work anymore, perhaps as the result of a Windows Update. I need to fix it.
Impersonation had been used to copy files from one location on a particular machine to another location on the same machine. Our code is based on that found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q306158.
The user account being impersonated is not part of the domain, it is a local machine account. The existing code will take the credentials provided and log into the machine and do the file operations. The paths to be accessed are UNC paths.
We had considered using remoting or WCF but I am starting to think both are going to be complex solutions to a simple problem. Is there a cleaner and more reliable way to impersonate the machine user and perform these operations?
