Skins Files

I have created a skin file that I want to apply to DetailsView server controls. It is a default control The skin file looks like this:
<asp:DetailsView Width="345px" runat="server">       <AlternatingRowStyle BackColor="Silver" /> </asp:DetailsView>
I have applied it in the @Page directive like so:
Theme="DetailsView"
It is not rendering in the view. I have also added it to the Web.config file and it still does not work. Can skinning be applied to DetailsView controls?
