In this article we will be seeing how to add site collection link to global breadcrumb navigation.


In the previous article, we learnt InfoPath Web Part in SharePoint 2010. In this article we will be seeing how to add site collection link to global breadcrumb navigation

(Navigate Up button) in SharePoint 2010.

Portal Site Collection:

A Portal Site Collection is used to link one site collection to another site collection. Portal site will be added to the Navigate Up (global breadcrumb navigation).

Configure Portal Site Collection:

1. Open SharePoint 2010 site collection.

2. Go to Site Actions, click on Site Settings.

3. Go to Site Collection Administration and then click on Portal site connection as shown in the following.

4. In the Portal Web Address add the address of the site collection to which we need to link.

5. Enter thePortal Name which will be displayed in the global breadcrumb navigation (Navigate Up).

6. Click on Ok.

7. Click on Navigate Up, you could be able to see a new link added as shown in the following.

8. When you click on the Sample Link, it will be redirected to the corresponding portal site that we have mentioned in the Portal Web Address.

How To Add New Custom Url(Suppose Google.com) to the Navigate Up. Example Like--> GooGle-->Home - first - second;Example Like--> GooGle-->Home - first Google should be at the top always to all the sites in the farm. Is there any way to customize navigate button--> I need have this in entire farm.
