Dear Sandeep,

Nice question and we are glad you want to become a software developer.

Academic records maters in beginning of career to get a software job however after that what matters is the knowledge and the experience of the technology and the work you do. As like to code, it is a great news. The attitude and enjoyment of what you are doing is important for the good career. So you can certainly become a good software developer.

As you have already got the job and you are working for last 18 months so you have already passed that phase. Now is the time to dedicate your 100% time if learning and implementing what is required for the job. Get vast experience in whatever you are doing that will help in one or the other way in your future career.

While you are doing your current job, try to learn newer technologies like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, C#, ASP.NET MVC, AngularJS, SQL Server (if you do not know), you can use TechFunda for that. Learn and then share your knowledge with others or implement into your own private projects, this is the best way to learn and get good command over the topic you are learning.

Once you are comfortable into these technologies, start looking for opportunities either into the same company or other company.

Thanks and good luck.
