Hello All,
I would like to know more information about different certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL.
1) Practical comparison of relevancy of these certifications.
2) Which certification is better suited if I am planning for a jump from Technical side to Management side almost immediately.
3) Which among this is worth the effort in terms of time and money (Effort comparison)
4) I dont have much project management experience now So which certification will suit me the best considering the best value.
Thanks in Advance,
GD

Hi,
Please find detailed information on the certifications below :
1. PMP (Project Management Professional)
Governing body : PMI, USA
Core focus : PMP is a very relevant certification if your goal is to become a Project Manager in future. You need to formally attend a training session and prepare for the exam and then become a certified PMP. Key point is that PMP is very relevant if you are planning to go onsite for US based projects.
2. Prince2
Governing body : OGC, UK
Core focus : This also targets project management, however, it varies significantly from the PMP. This is more relevant if you are planning to take up UK based projects.
3. ITIL
Governing body : OGC, UK
Core focus : This mainly targets the IT service delivery function and not project management.
This is more relevant if you are planning to become a Service Delivery Manager.
