i am Btech it with 10 months of exp. i want to do MBA to add on to my qualification and better chances in the IT industry. I was planning for MBA HR but was suggested that i should go for MBA IT instead because MBA IT will serve as an add on where as MBA hr looks like career shift. please guide on this. What will be better MBA iT or MBA HR. I want to stick to technical line. In case of MBA IT what are the opening available? I am working in a small it company and want to switch to an mnc, but as i am 2007 passout i never seem to fall in their fresher criteria as my experience in the filed is just 10 months i cannot enter on basis of exp. either.

Kapil's Advice on Thursday, July 22, 2010 :

If you want to remain in techincal field, you should go in for MBA IT. MBA HR would be the case if you want to shift on to HR and Recruitment.

After the MBA you should have propects of managent positions in IT companies as starting point of Project management.

You are right companies will treat you as fresher because your experience is too less to matter  and also it is from a small company where you would not have used SDLC processes, i presume. Later after experince this will add-on to your total experience and will not go waste.

This would also help you in your interviews to tackle any techincal questions and you would have edge over your freshers friends.

And also during your job, this technical experience will give insight of technical aspects of the project and must make you a good project manager.
