Sainath's Advice on Sunday, January 31, 2010 :
Hi,

Many people face this problem - particularly those who have studied in the vernacular medium are unable to express their thoughts freely. But no need to worry, I know many people (former colleagues, friends) who have crossed this hurdle with a little bit of proactive effort. Two steps which I can suggest:

(1) Read something - books, English newspapers for a minimum duration of 1 hour every day for 6 months. Why 6 months - because I have observed that it takes 6 months of daily effort to raise communication skills, I have actually seen this happen with some people.

(2) Cambridge has a BEC exam - and there are excellent trainers who train you to clear the exam. Check for the same in your area of residence.

Like any other problem in life - consistent effort is needed to cross this hurdle.
